Apple is an American multinational corporation that designs and markets computer software, personal computers and consumer electronics. Apple’s best known hardware products include Macintosh computers, the iPhone, the iPad and the iPod. The company was established in Cupertino, California on April 1976 and was incorporated on January 3, 1977. Initially the company was named as the Apple Computer, Inc for thirty years but the word computer was removed in 2007 which reflects the Apple’s ongoing expansion into consumers electronics market apart from the traditional focus on personal computers.

One of the current products of Apple is Mac and accessories. Mac Mini is the consumers sub-desktop computer and server which was introduced in Jan 2005. iMac is the consumer all-in-one desktop computer introduced in 1998. Mac Pro workstation is a class desktop computer introduced in August 2006 which replaced the Power Macintosh. MacBook is the consumers notebook that replaced iBook. MacBook Air is the ultra-thin and ultra-portable notebook. MacBook Pro is the professional portable computer alternative to the MacBook which was a replacement to PowerBook. Apple also sells many computer accessories for Mac computers including Time Capsule, AirPort wireless networking products, Cinema Display, Magic Mouse, Apple Wireless Keyboard and Apple USB Modem.

Recently, there was another revolution in the consumer market when Apple launched its much anticipated media tablet, the iPad running version of iOS on January 27, 2010. Apple iPad offers multi-touch interaction with multimedia formats like ebooks, magazines, newspapers, photos, movies, textbooks, music, TV shows, videos, spreadsheets, video games, word processing documents and the existing iPhone applications. Apple iPad also allows to download content via Wi-Fi and an optional 3G service or through the users computer. Also it includes a mobile version of Safari for the purpose of internet browsing and access to App Store, iBooks store, iTunes library.

Another product of Apple which is liked by many is the Apple iPod. It is the market leader in the portable music players. Currently Apple sells its four variants of iPod. iPod classic which is a portable media player that is currently available in a 160 GB model. iPod nano is currently available in 8 to 16 GB models equipped with a video camera, a FM tuner with Live pausing and iTunes Tagging. iPod shuffle is a digital audio player which is currently available in 2 to 4 GB models. iPod touch comes in 8, 32 and 64 GB models.

In January 2007, Apple introduced its much awaited iPhone which is a convergence of an Internet-enabled smartphone and iPod. Apple iPhone features 3.5-inch touch screen display, supported internal as well as external memory, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, quad-band, dashboard apps like Google Maps and Weather and many more. Many advanced models of iPhone have been introduced by the Apple including iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4. Apple is also known for Apple TV and software.
